And so I ran; took nothing with me: no watch, no keys, no phone, no iPod. Ran my regular loop twice and then thought, he'll be asleep by now. I decided to forgive him, but first I would say I was the one who was sorry. I imagined myself, freshly showered, slipping into bed and snuggling up next to him and whispering sexily, "I'm sorry." I picked up my pace as I rounded the last corner and saw that the porch light was on. As I reached the door I knew without touching it and without a doubt that it would be locked and bolted.
