Smoke Signals

by Lorette C. Luzajic

When was the moment I first knew I would lose you? About eight weeks after we’d met, standing before you at the altar. The French horn sounding “Endless Love.” The bridal march felt like a funeral. There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you, you’d said to me in the taxi on the way there. I still don’t know what it was.
