Fifteen Shades of Gray

by Lorette C. Luzajic

Here are the smudges and the signs, all that you have asked of me. Here they are, every imprint of cheesecloth and nails, every cut of the claw. I have nothing else to give you, no sage sight, no terrible and beautiful words. I have no ahas and no epiphanies, no wit or wonder. It is a handful of screws and hinges, a medley of metal and wire. It is how you asked me to show up, frightened and naked and ready to jump.
