Lost Explorer

by Robert McEvily

I once thought of myself as an explorer. When I was six, I made a map of my block, quite detailed, and my dad encouraged my cartographic bent. He bought me crayons and markers and tons of sketchpads. I outlined shortcuts through every backyard and knew the shortest distances between any two points. These days, I rely on my phone's GPS. I never know where I am.
