Death Comes for Billy the Snitch

by Jamie Ketchum

An upright cowboy rode into town on a black horse. It was clear to see: our thugs became uneasy. They didn't know what to make of him. The cowboy hitched his horse to the busted post in front of the saloon. He asked no one in particular, "Who broke the post?" I never saw Billy point at me, he was behind me like always, but I for damn sure saw what the cowboy did.
