I’ve been married twice. First time: only me and him, 16, my ring a loose elastic band. A serious occasion, a serious first dance, and I left the next day in the back of my parents' car. This time: everyone we know, 31, my ring an antique. We do our choreographed dance moves, someone films it for YouTube, and I don’t take my eyes off him, can’t, the fear of catching someone’s eye is too great, of something in their look taking me away from here, to back there. This ring is real, but too tight.
