The tsunami swept so many away, I blended in with the missing. Didn't go back to Savannah. If you've never needed a fresh start, you're doing better than me. Six months later I'd landed in Portland with a new name, new haircut, new beard and contact lenses. Maybe I was being funny pushing my luck by passing as this self-invented person, working in disaster relief. I'd do all the good I could at work, but evenings combed through pictures from my tsunami, collected from multiple sources, scared to see my image on high ground, unharmed after the water went out.
