Changing Number Two

by Jan Stevens

The Pro Football section of yesterday’s New York Times featured an article entitled “49ers’ Slumping Kicker Receives Death Threats.” San Francisco 49ers kicker David Akers said Thursday he received death threats on Twitter and closed the account. He received the threats late last month, but is unsure at the number because he did not go further back on his account to count. Once he saw them, he reported it to team and N.F.L. security personnel. The 49ers said Thursday they were aware of the situation, and so was the league. I think we should change the Constitution’s second amendment from guaranteeing the right to bear arms to guaranteeing the death penalty for anyone who takes sports more seriously than curtailing gun ownership.
