Bananas

by Kate Gordon

Yesterday afternoon I bought a bunch of bananas. Six perfect yellow arcs in a little sac. This morning, when I pulled them out of their plastic package, I sighed. My 11-year-old son and I both love bananas. We have one every morning, but he’s been away at a farm all week and I miss him. “I’m part monkey,” he often says, and I agree, because I think I am, too.
