Life Support

by Tracy Moore

"Six of the Week" Winner

It’s silent right now except for the clicking of the keys on my laptop as I type this. And his breathing. In and out. In and out. Rhythmic and peaceful. It amazes me how the sound of someone dying can be so beautiful.

Shame on you! Well done.

Nice. Concise with good buildup to the end (the last line is the kicker—it leaves the piece up to multiple interpretations). I think that first sentence could be even shorter. Still, solid stuff.

Eloquent and well written.

Great - like the possibilities of several interpretations - for example - maybe she didn't kill him, maybe he is dying anyway?

Enjoyed this.

Nice twist at the end. I didn't see it coming. Creepy and surreal.

Nice piece. Like the open interpretation at the end, although I read it as completely poignant and sweet until I saw the other comments. Works in many ways. Good stuff.

I like this very much. Maybe it makes me creepy and surreal, but I didn't see anything sinister in it either until others suggested it. Life and death are both amazing and beautiful, as well as other things. Anyway, you get my vote.
