Routine

by Roger Daubach

She knows she can have me before I even walk in the door. That’s the way it’s been since we were in high school – she calls and I come running. But I always find a way to wear out my welcome. I tell her how much she means to me. I speak of the happiness that lies waiting for us in the future. I treat her the way she wishes anyone other than me would treat her.
